The best way to get into the spooky spirit with your little one is to participate in 31 Days of Halloween Movies for Kids. For more ideas on how to make the most out of your baby’s first Halloween head my other post!
There’s no doubt that this Halloween is going to be a little different, but that doesn’t mean we have to skimp on ALL the traditions. One of my favorite ways to hone in on the Halloween spirit is to cuddle up and watch festive movies and I am so excited to share that with my little one this year!
For more Fall bucket list items check out my Fall Bucket List (Things you can do with your baby). Now, keep reading to see 31 Halloween movies for kids that the family will love. (and where to find them because my least favorite thing is getting my hopes up for a movie and taking forever to find out I can’t actually watch it).

1. Spookley the Square Pumpkin
Run Time: 47 min

Spookley the Square Pumpkin is a great movie to kick off 31 Days of Halloween Movies for Kids because it is also a children’s book! For more Halloween books for kids check out my post: Fall Baby Books You’ll FALL in Love With.
2. Casper
Run Time: 1 hr 50 min
Location: Rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK
This is a great Halloween movie for kids when gearing up for more spooky festivities because it can loosen the fear of ghosts.
3. Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Run Time: 1 hr 35 min
Location: Rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK
This movie is a clay-mation which you either love or hate. While I was never big on the Wallace on Gromit series, I think this is a fun one to get into the Halloween spirit!
4. Monsters VS Aliens
Run Time: 1 hr 42 min
Location: TUBI tv, IMDB tv or rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK
While Monsters VS Aliens isn’t especially “Halloween-y” I still think it is a fun animation with monsters and action to keep your little one interested!
5. Scooby-Doo (the Movie)
Run Time: 1 hr 29 min
Location: HBO Max or Rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK
Throughout this list you’ll find a few movies that aren’t animated, but similarly to this one, they are great for gearing up for Halloween!

7. Super Monsters Save Halloween

Another cute children’s Fall book turned into a fun (and short) movie!
10. The Dog Who Saved Halloween
Run Time: 1 hr 25 min

If your little one is anything like mine then she is obsessed with dogs, so this is a sure-fire winner in her book!
11. Monster Mash
Run Time: 1 hr 4 min
Location: I regret to say that I cannot find this movie available ANYWHERE! But I wanted to keep it on this list because, to me, it’s a classic Halloween movie and I am fortunate enough to have access to a VHS copy. Now I just have to find a VCR (if you understand me then message me and we can be best friends)!
If you forgot about this movie until now drop a comment – I want to know I’m not alone!
12. Scooby Doo and the Ghoul School
Run Time: 1 hr 30 min
Location: Boomerang or rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK.
13. Hotel Transylvania
Run Time: 1 hr 32 min

15. Hotel Transylvania 3
Run Time: 1 hr 37 min
Location: VUDO tv or rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK.
While this movie is less “Halloween-y” than the other two, I can’t bear to start a series and not end it! It still involves monsters so what’s not to love!?
16. Casper’s Scare School
Run Time: 1 hr 18 min
Location: Rent on Amazon Prime for $1.99 using THIS LINK.
After watching the first Casper movie mentioned above, this one will be a little more popular with the little ones since it is entirely animated!
17. Dear Dracula

Another fun “spooky” movie involving puppies!
19. Frankenweenie

Here is another non-animated movie that will not only help gear up for Halloween but also get you in the mood for Disney! (I can’t wait to take my little one!)
21. It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown
Run Time: 25 min
Location: VUDO or rent on Amazon Prime for $1.99 using THIS LINK.

Another fun one for when preparing for Disney adventures!
23. Toy Story of Terror
Run Time: 22 min
Location: VUDO tv or Disney+
Since having a baby I have gotten way more interested in the shorts that Disney offers! I used to think they were kind of weird but I loved when I was little and you found a golden nugget at the end of the credits. Well, now these shorts are just long enough to get her interested but not too long that I get interested and she loses interest!
24. Paranorman

Location: Rent off Youtube for $2.99 or rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK.
25. Coraline

27. Monster House
Run Time: 1 hr 31 min

This is the new and animated 2019 version and I am so excited that Prime is offering it for free!
29. Hocus Pocus
Run Time: 1 hr 36 min
Location: Disney+ or rent on Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK.
The absolute must-watch Halloween movie for me is Hocus Pocus! Some other “real” movies that will be on that list when my kiddos are older are all of the Halloween Town movies!
30. Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island
Run Time: 1 hr 18 min
Location: Netflix or rented from Amazon Prime for $1.99 using THIS LINK.
31. The Nightmare Before Christmas
Run Time: 1 hr 16 min
Location: Disney+ or rented from Amazon Prime for $3.99 using THIS LINK.
This is my favorite movie to end the 31 Days of Halloween Movies for Kids because it gears you up for the “next” holiday. Not to say Thanksgiving isn’t important, but I am definitely one to jump from Halloween to Christmas with a 3 day break for Thanksgiving in between, haha!
What do you think?!

We’ll have to move through this list! I could use some new things to watch with them. LOL. Rather than Ryan’s World on a constant loop.
Oh my gosh I get that! My niece is obsessed with all things ryans world – my little one just loves to have mickey mouse clubhouse on repeat. She doesn’t watch it, she will play and then stop to dance when the songs pop on XD!
We don’t actually celebrate Halloween but can I just say I LOVE your name you created – sahmable haha. SO good!!
Oh thank you so much!!! Thanks for stopping by!
I love classic kid-friendly spooky movies and this is a great list of one to enjoy with my kids. Unfortunately, they all seem to love gruesome scary movies I can’t even stomach. Oh well, we’ll be watching some from this list! Thank you so much
Haha, pre-baby I was definitely one to reach for a slasher movie first, but now, anything I can do with my little one is my absolute favorite thing to do!
I think I’d love most of these myself! Awesome list!
Thank you! Thanks for stopping by!
I wanted to add that I didn’t watch the nightmare before Christmas until I was an adult and I’m still confused on if its a Christmas movie or Halloween movie hahaha.
I am in the same boat! The very first time I watched it was with my husband, who wasn’t even my boyfriend at the time! He told me it was the best Halloween movie ever so he forced me to watch it so now it is part of our Halloween traditions and I like to keep it towards the end of Fall because I don’t know either! XD
The haunted Mansion was my favourite Halloween movie.
That one used to scare me! Haha, until I loved the Disney ride, then I was fine!
What a great list of movies to watch for halloween!
This is wonderful. I’ve been trying to find things for my 3 year old that aren’t too scary and age appropriate. Thanks so much for sharing!
My pleasure! My little one loves music more than any graphics a movie could ever provide so some of these have GREAT playlists!
These movies are so fun! We love watching Halloween movies as a family!
That’s so sweet! Thanks for stopping by!
